Led by our Legislative Committee, the State Association of County Retirement Systems (SACRS) sponsors, monitors and analyzes proposed legislation for its impact on the County Employees Retirement Law of 1937 (CERL) and public pension funding.
Our committee takes an orderly, thoughtful and meticulous approach to reviewing proposed legislation. We support legislation that benefits all member systems and oppose legislation, unless amended, that negatively impacts our membership.
SACRS sponsors bills to reduce ambiguity in CERL policy language; to update references that have become archaic or conflict with recently passed legislation; or to add our collective voice to legislation brought to us by an individual member system that we deem beneficial to our entire membership.
